Statement of Faith

The foundation of what we believe and teach at Tommy Nelson Ministries

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God. The Bible is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, possessing the same nature, attributes, and perfections, and are worthy of the same worship, confidence, and obedience (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory (John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11).

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. All who repent of their sins and receive Christ as Savior are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God. This salvation is not based on human effort or merit but is the free gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12-13).

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells all believers, enabling them to live godly lives and to serve effectively in the work of the church. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and He empowers believers for witness and service (John 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22-23).

The Church

We believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship (Ephesians 4:11-16; Hebrews 10:24-25).

The Last Things

We believe in the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:11-15).
